Yesterday was one of those special days, when everything seems to fall into place. Once Jim had found a marriage celebrant willing to help us out, the whole day just took off. The celebrant, Lynette McGuire, was such an enthusiastic supporter of what we were planning. She was on the spot immediately and made life so much easier for us. She also arranged for a likeminded photographer, Kerrie Stein, to take photos She had a disc with the photos on at the house next morning before most of us were out of bed. The Court Registrar also responded positively to a phone call from Jim, and signed the documents waiving the one month waiting period.
The ceremony itself was absolutely beautiful. Jill looked gorgeous in a red dress. Nathan made a huge effort to get into his shirt (lovingly ironed by his father!), and jeans. He endured the walk to the verandah and 25 minutes of photographs by the guests and family. Jim conducted the ceremony -it's a huge honour to marry your own children! Later we enjoyed a bbq dinner. Nathan & Jill had always planned on a bbq at their wedding. One (nameless) guest very close to Nathan & Jill, admitted that this was the first time she had cried at a wedding.
Before the ceremony, Nathan asked Jim to read the (brief) ceremony notes to him. He was determined to be aware of and happy with what was going on. He was able to say "Jill, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love.", without prompting. We are so proud of him.
It is so moving to see Nathan and Jill together. When Jill looks at Nathan, you can feel the love surrounding them. When Nathan reaches out for Jill's hand, and replies "Love you too", to her "Love you Babe", it is one of the great love stories being acted out in front of us. We are so blessed that Nathan found some one who loves him so deeply.
Today Nathan is resting comfortably under medication. He remembers yesterdays events, and Jill has shown him the photos.
Damon, Aaron and Mirelle continue be great support for Nathan and Jill. We are so proud of them too.
Thanks for your support,
Jim & Carol
