This afternoon Damon flew back to NZ where his wife Laura has been holding the fort. He had to say goodbye to Nathan, which we all found extremely difficult. As Damon held Nathan's hand and leaned over to give Nathan a kiss, Nathan reached up and gave Damon a big hug! They both showed great love and great courage. Over the past 3 weeks they were able to say all the things they wanted to say to each other. They are both comforted by the knowledge that they will meet again.
Nathan continues to show great courage and strength every day. This morning Jim told Nathan that he was taking Damon to Brisbane to catch his flight. Nathan replied, "It'll be good for you too." This afternoon he woke up, looked around and said, "I thought I'd be in Heaven by now." He even got out of bed today and walked to the bathroom to enjoy a shower.
Each day is different, and we are thankful for every one of them. Nathan continues to rest comfortably and is pain free.
